Tomorrow's Our Chance to Keep Neighbors Like Carlos Safe This Winter!
We hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As you may have heard, Giving Tuesday is tomorrow, and we wanted to keep the holiday cheer going. This winter, HomeFront is working hard to ensure neighbors like Carlos can stay safe, warm, and comfortable in their homes.
Carlos, age 42, has spina bifida and is wheelchair-bound. We learned he was facing a dire situation when his bathroom became unsafe and uninhabitable. Without a functioning bathroom, Carlos was at risk of losing his housing subsidy—and his home. Our volunteer team projects were a wrap for the Fall season, but we wanted to be of help.
Thanks to the support of generous donors like you, HomeFront was able to step in. We brought together skilled volunteers from St. Edward the Confessor Parish in New Fairfield to repair Carlos’ bathroom with a wider shower pan and fix the damaged floors and walls, turning his space into one that’s accessible and safe. Carlos would have had to save up $8,000 if he had to pay for the work to get done. Here is Carlos next to a bathroom that finally works for him, and we wanted to share some images of the work in progress and the finished product.
This Giving Tuesday, we need your help to continue offering Critical Pro Repairs like these for others in need—especially as winter brings even greater challenges. For every home like Carlos’s, we have five more waiting for help. Many of them need furnace repairs. Some await wheel chair ramps. Others have hazardous front steps, drafty windows and doors, no working plumbing or electrical issues. The needs vary, so your donation of any amount will help us carry out more Winter Warm-Up/Health & Safety Fixes for neighbors like Carlos who are struggling to keep their homes safe right in your backyard.
Your support doubles the impact! Every dollar you give is matched by the donated expertise and materials from our skilled volunteers and partners.
Please consider making a gift this Giving Tuesday and help us bring comfort and safety to even more families this winter. If you'd rather set these good works in motion without delay, you can click on the donate link below.
We can’t wait to share with you the stories of the life-changing repairs we will be able to deliver, together, in your community.
