Happy Thanksgiving—From Their Homes to Yours!

We know this is a busy time, but it’s never too busy to share our thanks with you, our invaluable volunteer helpers and supporters. Gratitude is fresh in our minds as we just completed the last of our Fall HomeFront Days this past week. It is not lost on us how busy you are and how it may not feel like our dollar stretches as far as we’d like. But, in spite of it all, we were able to make 15 more homes warmer, safer and healthier for older adults, veterans, single-parent households, persons with disabilities and families in transitional crisis due to illness or job loss. It is all thanks to our Fall volunteer groups and our Critical Pro Repair (CPR) service. We’re lucky to have front row seats to all of the good works you make possible, but we wanted to share one special story with you.

"Grateful There Are People Like You"

Melba & George are especially thankful for you this Thanksgiving. They've been very involved in the Bridgeport community for decades until George suffered a severe stroke recently. Despite the challenges, Melba’s determination to care for her husband never wavers—but their home was in desperate need of repairs to ensure it remained safe and accessible.

Thanks to the selfless volunteers from Talmadge Hill Community Church and the support of generous donors like you, we were able to come together to make vital repairs that will have a lasting impact on Melba’s life. Together, we replaced several windows, installed a new back door, added grab bars for safety, replaced outdated outlets and light fixtures, and even demoed a crumbling shed.

But that’s not all. We fixed the deck, repaired plumbing, replaced a damaged vanity, revamped the shower and faucets, removed old wallpaper, and painted.

This is just one example of the many ways your support makes a difference. None of this would have been possible without your kindness and generosity. Thank you for being an essential part of our mission to help families like Melba’s thrive in safe, healthy homes. Melba’s words of thanks really go out to all the volunteers and to you: “We want to THANK YOU and the HomeFront organization for all the hard work and care you've given. You have no idea how much this has meant to us and I don't know how to thank you for everything you've done. Your generosity has meant the world to us and we're beyond grateful that there are people in the world like you!”
