As the year winds down, we want to thank you again for being part of a community that shows up for neighbors when it matters most.
This winter is off to a harsh start. Right now, families across our community are facing winter in homes that need urgent repairs—from unreliable heating systems to unsafe steps and drafty doors and windows. Thanks to supporters like you, we’re able to step in and make homes safer, warmer, and healthier. Before turning the page on 2025, we thought we would share stories of two neighbors who now face this winter in more livable homes thanks to our work together.
A Thumbs Up for Peace of Mind
Take Patricia’s home, for example in Waterbury. Patricia has survived two bouts of cancer. She now us undergoing treatment for leukemia. She raised her children in the home where she has lived for 48 years. Patricia turned to HomeFront because her front door let in brisk drafts in the winter and was no longer secure. Thanks to our Critical Pro Repair (CPR) initiative, we were able to send a construction expert to replace her door, so she can now focus on her health. You can see the newfound peace of mind on her face.
In Bridgeport, we heard from another woman in her 70s who was worried about weathering this winter with her eight drafty windows and the added heating costs that come with them. Jean was in a car accident recently that injured her back, neck and knees. After decades of caring for her grandmother and her mom in her home, Jean now needed a boost. Through our CPR effort, we sent pros to replace all eight windows for her. Jean’s thumbs up comes from knowing that she can age in place in a warmer, more comfortable home.
A Warmer, Safer, Healthier 2026
We are so grateful to all who have generously contributed toward our neighbors in need already. If you haven't yet, there’s still time for us to build on this momentum and make an even greater impact for local older adults like Patricia and Jean, local veterans, persons with disabilities and families in crises due to illness or job loss. Our goal is to assist one home in urgent need of repairs each week this winter.
