HomeFront, Inc. is a local, community based nonprofit, with offices in Stamford, CT. HomeFront operates a volunteer-driven home repair program that provides FREE repairs to low-income homeowners, enabling them to remain in their homes with an improved quality of life. Currently the program serves Fairfield, Hartford and New Haven Counties in Connecticut; and Westchester County, New York.
Since its founding in 1988, HomeFront organized thousands of volunteer teams to complete nearly 2,500 projects, impacting over 150 communities in four CT and two NY Counties and has delivered more than $38 million in donated products and services.
HomeFront is run by a small and very dedicated team of paid staff who manage the administrative & client application functions, volunteer management activities, fundraising and business development initiatives that support the program operations.
We are currently seeking a highly mission oriented individual to join our team as an Office Administrator. Position Details: 30–40 hour week with benefits, located in Stamford, CT. This position reports to the Executive Director, HomeFront, Inc.
Experience Req’d: Candidate should possess administrative experience in an office setting. Ability to interface with volunteers, donors, and neighbors in need in a compassionate way is imperative. This position is well suited to highly organized individuals who wish to make a difference for neighbors in need. College degree is preferred though not mandatory.
Skills Req’d: Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is a pre-requisite. Experience with Microsoft Access is preferred. Meticulous attention to detail is essential. Strong communication skills are a must along with interpersonal skills and a compassion for the population served by HomeFront. Candidate must be able to manage a volunteer office work force while accomplishing his or her duties.
- Manages day-to-day office operations, functioning as the frontline for triaging telephone calls and emails.
- Plans meetings for key volunteer leaders.
- Processes donations and bills.
- Maintains the program’s stock of office supplies and literature.
- Organizes mailings and edits a variety of documents.
- Gathers information on resources that can help neighbors in need.
- Coordinates home evaluation process.
- Conducts occasional home evaluation visits to assist with overflow areas.
- Assists with mechanisms to generate requests for help.
- Facilitates insurance requirements.
- Makes arrangements for professional services to benefit homeowners.
- Manages informational needs concerning neighbors applying for assistance, participating volunteers, and other key contacts through data entry in Access, phone work and filing.
- Supervises, trains and maintains a volunteer office work staff.
- Ensures accurate and timely information and communication among homeowner applicants, volunteer leaders and colleagues.
